Description: The US Air Force in Vietnam contended with the most sophisticated air defense in history on bombing runs "going downtown" to "Route Pack 6", while also providing air support to ground troops, rescuing downed airmen, and battling the flow of supplies from North to South down the Ho Chi Minh trail. USAF navigators flew on everything from F-4 Phantoms to F-105 Wild Weasels, F-111 Aardvarks, and B-52 Stratofortresses, and provided vital in-air direction. This USAF Vietnam SENIOR NAVIGATOR WINGS IN-COUNTRY BADGED POPLIN JUNGLE JACKET is in good condition, missing the size label from the inside neck, and with a small area at the middle bottom of the lower right front pocket having come un-sewn, the lower right front pocket side seams having been re-stitched, two pinholes at the lower middle right front, moderate orangish brown spot soiling at the interior back right collar and neck, a frayed seam tear in the interior top left corner of the lower left front pocket, all but the bottom edge of the nomenclature tag at the interior lower right front having come unstitched, some scattered nicking and orangish brown spot soiling throughout, and with some overall fading and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the jungle jacket is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough OD 100% cotton poplin construction. Most interestingly, it boasts classic subdued in-country Thai machine embroidered on twill insignia throughout, with USAF Senior Navigator wings above a "U.S. AIR FORCE" tab at the left chest, a "STAHL" name tape at the right chest, and USAF Lieutenant Colonel rank insignia at the collar points. It features the traditional 4 front pocket design, with the top two slanted inward at a jaunty angle, sports all of the original dimpled OD plastic buttons throughout, and dates to 1966 by the "DSA 100-4257" contract number on the original nomenclature tag inside. A fine example of a rare, original USAF Vietnam SENIOR NAVIGATOR WINGS IN-COUNTRY BADGED POPLIN JUNGLE JACKET. Now celebrating a quarter century on eBay.
