This is model LR-15 (LoPrinzi Rosewood Model 15) This guitar was made by Augie himself, founder of the company and quite a character, the history of his guitar building journey is worth a quick internet search. Anyone who knows guitars would immediately see that the influence of the top USA makers has been distilled into this guitar, with its' highly musical voice that is neither boomy nor timid, yet well balanced and characterful. Solid spruce top Solid rosewood body Ebony fretboard X braced Neck shape: slim CBoard radius: ~14"Truss rod: adjustableScale length: 25 3/8"Nut width: 1 11/16"Body width: 15 5/8"Body depth: 4 1/2"Weight: 5 lbs 0 oz There is a feeling of quality about the guitar which speaks from the perspective of truth to traditional materials and hand-crafted construction methods. Overall condition is excellent for a guitar that is about to celebrate its 50th birthday. There are no cracks however the nitro finish has mellowed and checked as with the best vintages. No repairs are apparent, neck angle good, action low, saddle is low typical of age, making for a very playable guitar. Label shows some weathering as common to see on these as they were signed off with water based ink, this is certainly a model LR-15 and made in 1975. A set of Waverly tortoiseshell bridge pins is installed, otherwise the guitar is all original. A fine piece of luthiery, very rare to see in UK. Enjoy! Extra InfoI found this writeup online from the Dec. 1977 Bluegrass Unlimited: "In the world of fast foods and molded merchandise, there is a man who patiently creates masterpiece guitars by hand. Tom LoPrinzi, who as a studio in Plainsboro, New Jersey, is a craftsman in the old world tradition: his guitars are created slowly and skillfully... LoPrinzi and the men working with him average about six new guitars each week - each one created entirely by hand. It takes about six weeks or 60 man-hours to make his guitar, using fine grain German Silver or Canadian spruce instead of the commonly used Sitka spruce. LoPrinzi personally selects dense wood for the backs and sides of all rosewood models and superior and stable Honduras or Amazon mahogany for the neck. Each guitar is finished with 12 coats of acoustic-type lacquer, hand-sanded between coats with the final coat hand-rubbed and polished. But as any musician will tell you, a guitar's excellence is not in how it looks, but rather, in the sound. And the sound of a LoPrinzi guitar prompted one guitarist to write: "Deep resonant bass, full middle, and brilliant highs. Beautiful to the eye and ear and fingers." Another correspondent wrote to say his guitar had "power, grace, balance - it's almost religious."... After examining many guitars and talking with musicians, LoPrinzi discovered that it is often difficult to keep a guitar in tune above the 10th and 11th frets when tuned to a concert pitch. "I decided," LoPrinzi said, "what I wanted to construct were guitars that would not only stay in tune at that pitch, but that would also maintain a tone that was crisp at both the top and bottom frets."...
