Description: U.S. ARMY 5th SPECIAL FORCES GREEN BERET - 1991 DESERT STORM - BANCROFT DLA100-91-D-4056 Medium Large - Size 7 1/8 This is an excellent condition U.S.Army Special Forces Rifle Green Beret with 5th Special Forces Beret Flash. It is 100% Rifle Green Wool with a Black 100% Cotton Lining and Black Nylon Edge Binding. The Drawcord is Nylon with flame sealed edges. I got this from a friend that was in the Delta Force SCUD Hunter/Killer Teams in Western Iraq. Saddam Hussein after invading Kuwait in August 1990, in January 1991 his Republican Guards Batteries started firing Soviet type SCUD Missiles with 350 lbs. Explosive Warheads into Israel. These missiles also had the capability to carry Nerve Gas Warheads or a small Nuclear Warhead Payload. Saddam was attempting to draw Israel into a Middle East Wide armed conflict and to prevent the U.S. Army from retaking Kuwait back from his Republican Guard Divisions. The U.S. Army Delta Force with the British S.A.S. was sent into Western Iraq to hunt down and destroy the Iraqi Mobile SCUD Launcher Batteries. They used either Humvees or FAV (Fast Attack Vehicles) mounted with .50 cal. Heavy Machine Guns, TOW Missiles up top and M-60 Machine Guns mounted for the right front seat. All 3 Delta Force Soldiers carried a M16-A2 Automatic Rifle and 9mm Pistol as well. This Green Beret has the 5th Special Forces Flash machine stiched on. The De Oppresso Libre Army S.F. Beret Insignia can easily be replaced. Photos of the Delta Force Humvee Vehicles, an Iraqi SCUD Launcher, and Delta Force FAVs (Fast Attack Vehicles) are added to this listing for historical purposes.
