Description: Original engraving of Andrew Jackson. Over 150 year old engraving. Made around 1869. Made for eclectic Magazine . President Jackson was an American lawyer, planter, general, and statesman who served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837. Before his presidency, he gained fame as a general in the U.S. Army and served in both houses of the U.S. Congress. Often praised as an advocate for ordinary Americans and for his work in preserving the union of states, Jackson has also been criticized for his racial policies, particularly his treatment of Native Americans. Size: 12 by 9 1/2 and actual picture without writing is 4 3/4 by 3 5/8. Condition: Around edges of print there is little toning. The toning would not be seen once mat is on picture. Would look great in an acid free mat and a black frame. Really nice engraved print. I have over 200 engravings from Eclectic magazine which my wife and I bought in Philadelphia. We thought we would open a print shop some day but decided not to that’s why we are selling. If you google these engravings a lot of collections have these in them. Library of congress sells copies of these engravings but this is an original. There are several photo copies of this engraving
