Description: Signed, stamped and numbered, in vintage condition. Beautiful vintage bowl by the famous designer Mari Simullson, produced for Upsala-Ekeby, from Vallmo (Poppy) series. Mari Peterson Särgava, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, November 23, 1911. She received her artistic education at the State Art School in Tallinn, and during the same period she also married Gustaf Friedrich Simmulson. After completing education, Mari went to Finland where she practiced at Arabia Porslinsfabrik. In 1944 she moved to Sweden and started working with Wilhelm Kåge at Gustavsbergs Porcelain Factory. Later Mari worked at Upsala Ekeby until 1972, after which she had some other assignments such as for the deco in Helsingborg, as well as for Gefle and Karlskrona porcelain factories. She died in Uppsala on November 7, 2000. Her art pieces were signed "ms", "MS", "Mari Simmulson" or "Maris" (as this one).
