Description: An intriguing wooden figure with beadwork details and cowrie shell ‘face’ and an assortment of additions in cloth, bone and shell bound on by twisted fibre string. I truly have very little idea as to age or what it represents - I’m assuming African, and possibly a fertility figure (similar to a namji doll) or related to ancestor figures? (Any info very much appreciated…) CONDITION - a worn and dusty finish with some surface wear (I’ve listed it as post 1940 but that’s just a guess - it certainly looks as though it could be older) Generally secure though MEASUREMENTS Around 26cm tall in fixed sitting position shown.
