Description: Antique Tiffany Solid Sterling Silver Wine Coaster DescriptionAn unusual Tiffany sterling silver wine coaster.The circular body with faceted wall and multi-lobed rim.The base with ornate acid etched holly wreath.Intertwined with the foliage is the text: Xmas 1888. There is a very interesting type of decoration to each of the lobes. It appears as though a pattern in silver coloured metal has been inlaid. This metal seems to be tarnishing at a different rate to the surrounding silver. The result is a very faint pattern which appears/disappears with polishing/tarnishing.Perhaps the inlaid metal was originally plated with another metal as contrast.Stamped to the underside as follows:TIFFANY & Co.10018 MSTERLING-SILVERMade under the directorship of Edward Moore (1873 - 1891).A very attractive and unusual piece of Tiffany silver. ConditionIn good antique condition with expected wear.Minor dings and surface wear throughout.Some rubbing has presumably taken place to lobes.Hallmarks are all clear and legible.
