Skill of the Artist is incredible- the painting is masterfully done and there are some unusual advanced techniques here such as very subtle pencil work in outline over the painted surface to add even more realism and 'life'. MAGNIFICENT technique with softly textured oil paint. The details are astonishing- the man looks as if he could speak at any moment. His hands are rendered in wonderful detail. Rich, deep colors with excellent shadow and light which gives this piece its hyper-realism.Signed 'CMH' in lower right corner. For a collector, this piece is VERY RARE- it's obviously a commissioned Art piece of a specific man. My best guess due to the magnificent quality of the painting is that this was hung in a school, business, institution, etc.Was he a business owner? A politician? A physician or attorney? A professor? We will most likely never know, which adds to the fun of the piece. Set in original very lovely heavy oak wood frame with a rounded molded edge. Frame has been coated with a textured acrylic gesso and painted an antique gold. Secure metal wire hanger attached across back, ready to hang.
