Description: UNUSUAL C. 1930’s DECO SPHINX-SHAPE BLACK-PAINTED WOOD STAPLER 6” L 4”H 12 OZS. Solid base is very much the shape of Sphinx’s crouching legs. Upper half is beautifully curved and the arrowhead-shaped grip at top (what’s gripped for pressing down upper stapler section) has wonderful Deco scoring (3 unequal deep grooves). Condition is good but the metal strike-plate is rusted and the only spot were black paint has begun to peel slightly is at the bottom of the back of the base.
