Measures 5 x 5 inches square with 2.5 inches total height. Signed (or personalized?) "Terry" within the slanted "O," the blue-felt lined interior includes a (silver?) cut-out of a kissing boy and girl. The felt lining suggests it may have been crafted for storing jewelry or other special personal items. Robert Indiana's (American, 1928-) LOVE with its' unmistakable slanted ‘O’ within a square format, first appeared in 1964 in a series of frottage drawings in graphite and colored pencil. Indiana further developed his concept through a series of paintings, sculpture and prints, as well as other one-off items. Love was a subject of great spiritual significance for the artist.
