The eggs come unwashed to ensure freshness. An insert is included which explains the science of the egg's protective coating. These eggs MUST be washed with soapy water before using. Throughout history eggs have been a symbol of new life, rebirth and fertility. About my Flock My happy hens have free run of the juiciest parts of my wilderness and enjoy running around the pasture eating high protein insects, savory herbs, wild flowers and grasses. This wild diet, supplemented with high quality feed, creates a tastier and darker orange yolk. Nibbling on oyster shells helps them create a strong shell and membrane. The real surprise comes when you poach these eggs. They have nice thick whites that don't float away. The pictures show their great form when fried. My super hen workforce gets regular snack breaks, snuggle hugs and under wing massages. Their spa area is an olfactory heaven. The dust bath areas are covered in delightfully fragrant herbs and flowers they flip into their feathers after which they lay on their sides in pleasurable bliss. In inclement weather they have a huge enclosure where they are still outdoors warm and protected. My chooks have never been medicated and pests are dealt with holistically. My egg collection is cruelty free because my snobby hens think an aupair will be along shortly to sit on their eggs and could care less what happens to them. They are only interested in returning to foraging. About Me I am doing this in my retirement to supplement my meager social security. I'm a retired biologist so the rarer and more unique breeds intrigue me. I have to say, as much work and as expensive as they are, my chickens bring great joy to my life.
