This small version of cypraea cribraria from New Caledonia, like its sisters found in Madagascar, Mozambique and other locales, is one of those gorgeous, rare shells found by somebody really lucky enough to go collecting there, the rats! As mentioned, I used to find small ones like this on the beach at Kwajalein, very small cribrarias about this size, and now I know that instead of being baby cribrarias, (which I always took them to be) that they were special too. Looks like I'll have to go thru all of my boxes of shells, look and see what I've got! . Anyhow, as the video shows, this niger/rostrated, rarely offered beauty is an incredible GEM from an exotic locale that would look terrific sitting on your shelf!The ultra-perfect shell for a first-class collection.
