Description: Warm greetings from Japan. Thank you very much for visiting our listing. Kamaka, which boasts skilled craftsmanship and thorough quality control, is still the top brand in Hawaii. In other words, it is also the top brand in the world. The young Samuel K. Kamaka , who learned how to make ukuleles from Manuel Nunez and Yonah Kumalae, set up his own workshop in 1916. With the huge success of the patented pineapple ukulele, the 1930s was the dawn of Kamaka's time, when the company made a name for itself mainly in the United States. After that, it survived the turmoil of World War II, and rode the global Hawaiian boom that came again in the 1950s , and continued to produce famous instruments that are now called gold labels, reaching a truly golden age. At one point, orders were so high that the company was sending materials to Japanese companies to make them. Famous performers In the 1960s , Herb Ohta's custom-made concert ukuleles were added to the lineup . The company was passed down from founder Samuel K. Kamaka to his two sons, Samuel K. Kamakani and Frederick, and is now run by the next generation, Chris and Casey. The production line has remained the same for many years, with 15 to 20 craftsmen still working in the factory every day. Probably we should not forget the saying "continuity is power." Even if there is such a thing as a "phantom gem" of a ukulele, no matter how wonderful it is, we cannot easily get our hands on it. While many ukulele manufacturers have come and gone, Kamaka continues to supply us with high-quality ukuleles. Passing down the techniques and experience from the early days of the ukulele. Kamaka guitars with a gold label inside the sound hole are known as Gold Labels and were made in the 1940s to 1960s. There are two types of labels, matte and glossy , and the matte label is older. Most Gold Label models had a diagonal cut at the back of the fingerboard, but the first high-end models with white binding on the body had a symmetrical finish like Martin. The gold label era Koa standard is luxuriously made from a single piece of wood for the top, back, and even sides, and has a rolling, ukulele-like sound, which makes it very popular in Japan. Some people say that "they had a good craftsman," but probably it's the result of the sound required for a ukulele in Hawaii changing with the times. Rather, it shows Kamaka's tireless research. This ukulele is a gold label from Kamaka's golden age, and is a masterpiece that lavishly uses a single piece of Hawaiian Koa for the top, back, and even sides.
