Description: A pair of vintage 1940 WWII M.M.S brass mess bowls. The M.M.S ( Mobile Minesweepers Ship ) class were a class of 402 coastal minesweepers built for the Royal British Navy between 1940 and 1945. They were constructed of wood to counteract the magnetic mines. These twin bowls were used by the officers in the minesweepers. They measure 5.5'' in diameter x 2'' tall. Both have acquired a rich patina and lovely subtle oxidation in the recesses of the textured surface. Stamped " VOC. No 52105 1956 M.M.S on the bottoms. These are both in beautiful condition and absolutely worth adding to your collection!
