Description: SET OF TWO ~ Vintage Wm Guerin & Co ~ Limoges France ~ GUE55 Snag a real piece of history with these dinner plates made for the Gimbel Brothers. Gimbels was an American department store that operated from 1842 to 1987. The first store opened in Vincennes, Indiana and expanded to a peak of 53 stores in the 60's in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Connecticut. The company created the oldest Thanksgiving parade, The Gimbels Thanksgiving Parade in Philadelphia in 1920. The remaining 35 stores closed in 1987. These pretty plates are a part of that long, distinguished history. The pattern features a geometric border of pink, green and tan and Greek key pattern and trimmed in gold on the rims. They are approximately 9-3/4" in diameter. The plates are in very good condition with no chips. The gold border shows some wear. Extremely faint, if any, utensil marks.
