Description: Two Chain Necklace Napoleon Commemorative French Medallion Wedding Birth SP RARE This gorgeous statement necklace is preowned, is vintage that we believe is mid century 1950s or so and is quite rare as we have not been able to find a similar piece, though we have found the parts. The large center medallion was made to commemorate the 1810 marriage of Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Louise of Austria. Marie Louise was Archduchess of Austria, Princess of Hungary and Bohemia, Duchess of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla, Empress of the French, and Queen of Italy. She married Napoleon in 1810. Numerous medallions were produced to celebrate the royal wedding. This medallion is silver plated on bronze and is two sided. The medallion is centered in a silver plated, textured and decorative frame holder with a small bale on the top which a metal fleur de lis hook has been secured and then attached to the chain. The necklace is also silver plated and has been acid tested for confirmation. It is a double chain which gives a large layered look. Underneath are three medallions, all the same, commemorating the birth of Napoleon's son, Napoleon II. The center medallion is framed in silver tone metal giving it a larger appearance. All are secured with jump rings to the frame of the larger medallion. All are two sided. These do hang relatively free and will show movement. The necklace can be reversed to show the opposite sides of the medallions.This necklace measures approximately 21 inches and closes with a simple spring lock. This necklace is quite a statement piece. It also has that smell of coin money if you can relate. Hopefully we can find a new home for this one of a kind Napoleon commemorative necklace.
