Genealogy buffs will find a list of 1888 county officers and busineses, and biographical material on Lyman Beecher, Gen. Simon Perkins and sons, Gen. Jacob Dolson Cox, Kenyon Cox, Milton Sutliff, abolitionist, and Col. Ezra Taylor. The Howe history covers the development of this area until about 1890, while excerpts from the WPA book, give a nostalgic glimpse from a 1940 vantage point, including interesting historical notes, especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities. The history of county newspapers, an article on Pres. William McKinley, a map showing the 88 counties in Ohio and a map of Ohio as it looked in 1805 are also included.
