Description: Triumph Automobile / Motorcycle Globe - 5" patch With Wax Backing and Merrowed Edge The Triumph Motor Company evolved from the Triumph Cycle Company, which in turn became part of Standard-Triumph (1944). Indeed, Standard-Triumph's subsidiary was the Triumph Motor Company Ltd. After WW11, older Triumph models were not revived and in 1946 a new range of Triumphs were introduced onto the market with the Triumph Roadster, Triumph Renown and the Triumph Mayflower. All three of these models prominently displayed the Triumph ‘globe’ badge. In the early 1950s a decision was made to allocate the Triumph name to sports models and the Standard name to Saloons. When the Standard Motor Company released the Triumph TR2 in 1953, a peculiar decision was made to have the Standard badge on the front of the car with the Triumph ‘globe’ badge appearing on each of the hubcaps. Such was the success of the TR range that the Standard name came to an end in 1963 with the introduction of the Triumph 2000.
