Re: information about Laserdiscs - they are about 12 inches by 13 inches, similar to heavier, thicker vinyl records that look like giant two sided silver CDs. They need a specific Laserdisc system to play on, which were available commercially probably until the early 2000s. Laserdisc players are still available for sale in many used electronics stores, audiophile stores, thrift shoppes, and online in various places, include kijiji, as well as at garage sales/flea markets, many times for very reasonable prices. Quality of picture is soft focus, not razor sharp like a DVD or blu ray. Cables are standard coax.
