This Shackle / Grab hook was designed to be easily bolted on to your bucket. Ideally it should be centered inside your bucket to balance the weight. It comes with a 3/8 steel backing plate along with the front 3/8 hook plate to sandwich your bucket steel. This will create a 3/4" + thick by 8" long to distribute strength. You will need a 1/2 drill bit in order to drill (2) holes for the 1/2" Grade 8 bolts and hardware. The grab hook and shackle combo is great for a variety of chains or ropes. Also, if you are picking up something with a large chain with hook you don't have to drag the end on the ground. You can hook it on the shackle. This is something I have ran into while dragging logs with a long chain.
