Description: A hand-signed diptych of brochures from a World Exhibition held at Center Art Galleries in Hawaii , circa 1986. Tony Curtis hand signed these brochures for attendees at his International Exhibitions at Center Art Galleries in the 1980's. This rare collectors item was signed and dedicated by Curtis. It measures 19x22.5" and is matted and framed beautifully. Center Art Galleries was once the flourishing center of the contemporary art world in the Hawaiian Islands, representing artists including Anthony Quinn, Red Skelton, Dali, Chagall, Tony Curtis, Donna Summer and many others. Their gallery shows attracted hundreds of attendees from New York to Tokyo, and their sales were in the millions until scandal in the late 1980's brought down their empire. The history of the 20th Century's largest art scandal has been chronicled in newspapers and in books (see "The Great Dali Art Fraud" by Lee Caterall") and ended when the gallery owners fall from grace landed them in federal prison, after authorities from the United States Postal Service raided their lavish galleries and confiscated hundreds of forged Dali lithographs selling for $10,000 or more each. This exhibition brochure dates to Center Art Galleries hay day when they were frequented by both celebrities and major collectors from around the world. Ship weight approx. 20 lbs.
