Description: A tiny just over 2 inches tall square-shaped brown AMBER color antique POISON BOTTLE with super colorful RED and WHITE paper label. This bottle has an embossed picture of a SKULL and CROSS BONES on one side and the ORIGINAL full paper label covering the other THREE SIDES of the bottle. If that's not enough, it still has the rubber CORK and GLASS DAUBER like the day it was made. A hard to find bottle this complete, and especially RARE as it comes from HUNTINGTON PARK in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. This is an early mold-blown Cork Top bottle, dating back 100 years or so, a good ONE CENTURY OLD !Bottle embossed: "POISON / TINCT. / IODINE" and, as mentioned, the picture of SKULL / cross BONES, the age-old reminder that the bottle contained a DEADLY product. Label reads in part: "POISON ... TINCTURE IODINE (with picture of Skull and Cross Bones) ... REED'S PHARMACY ... Huntington Park, Cal."Condition: Bottle is in EXCELLENT SPARKLING CLEAN condition. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. The label has some light wear, PLEASE see pictures for better idea of bottle and label's overall appearance and condition. What a RARE find, an antique poison bottle in all this original condition from a town like Huntington Park, California, where there are not a lot of antique items from as it was sparsely populated in its early day. Antique poison bottles are some of the nicest collectible bottles today. They were almost always made in odd shapes or forms, unusual colors, and / or had fancy or extraordinary embossing patterns on them ( like the embossed SKULL and CROSS BONES on this one ) all things to let a user know, by sight and feel, that the bottle's contents were something not to be consumed, for EXTERNAL USE ONLY, NOT to be TAKEN! It is scarce to find an antique poison bottle in all original condition with full label, and ESPECIALLY in this SMALL 2 INCH TALL size. The label on it is very COLORFUL in the RED and WHITE color. The company that put this up and is printed on the label was "REED'S PHARMACY 133 SOUTH PACIFIC BOULEVARD HUNTINGTON PARK, CAL", and it has a low digit phone number that is a little too worn to see. The label also has a picture of a SKULL and CROSS BONES in nice RED lettering against a white background. This type of bottle is referred to as a KS - 12 in the antique poison bottle work book. Note that the market, antique shops, eBay, etc. are flooded with multiple examples of foreign poison bottles that say, "NOT TO BE TAKEN" or "FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY", BUT do NOT even say POISON on them, or have an embossed picture of skull and crossbones. It is refreshing to find here a U.S.A., AMERICAN made bottle embossed with the picture of SKULL / cross BONES, with a FULL COLORFUL LABEL on it, in a RARE tiny size, and from WAY OUT WEST, check it out!
