Since the 50s the Grassi company had produced the finest Italian Horns ever. As a trailblazer they did a great job but Ida Maria Grassi was always a step behind Henry SELMER. After a great investment in technology and machinery The Grassi company hired former SELMER’s engineers that developed the professional 2000 and afterwards the model 2000. The new project was outstanding boasting a quality similar to the famous SELMER super action series II. There are even many mechanical similarities with the masterpiece Mark VI. There are many mysteries around this classic rivalry and nobody can’t explain the reason Grassi Horns did not became famous worldwide as Ferrari. There is a history that many believe be a fairy tail that states a Henry SELMER’s relative felt in Love for a Ida Grassi’s relative and Henry disagreed with the relationship and forbade it, cursing even Ida’s saxophone Business. Almost nobody related to this episode is alive to confirm or Deny this fact. The model 2000 is the best Grassi ever made! Fast action response, clear, sweet and huge voice. All of the defects of the former generation were improved on this Horn. This was closet kept, barely use, original pads as new and metal resonators. Look at the hand crafted flowers on the rings and the neck Grassi logo: everything resembles the Mark VI, even the body engraving. There are no dents nor scratches. No rusts.
