Description: Ticket stub from a game played at since demolished Memorial Stadium in Baltimore between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles on 5/25/1981. The Orioles won 10-1 in what was a May battle for a playoff spot, though no one knew it at the time. It was the 1981 season and in a few weeks the players would go on strike for nearly 2 months. When the season resumed in August it was announced that whatever teams were leading their division at the time of the strike were given berths into a special playoff system only used for the 1981 season. At the time of when this late May game was completed, the Orioles would be 2 1/2 games up on the Yankees but when the strike came the Yankees were in first, 2 games in front of the Orioles. Jim Palmer was the winning pitcher, winning his 244th career game. The only run he allowed was the 416th career home run for Reggie Jackson. It was the third and final home run Jackson would hit off of Palmer in his career. Other Hall of Famers in the game were Dave Winfield and Eddie Murray. Murray had a hit, RBI, and scored a run. Doug DeCinces had 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Mark Belanger hit his final career home run, and it was also his first home run since the 1977 season. Will be shipped with tracking.
