Three titled ink illustrations, with some pencil highlights, most likely English due to traditional Safari clothes and hat. Each illustration is titled separately. 1) Comes Out to See! is a depiction of a man dressed in traditional safari garb pointing his rifle at a bear that is coming out of a cave-where the entrance is strewn with bones of victims, with another man looking over from behind the scene. 2) Somebody Calls! is a drawing of two men on top or near a rock formation, one is dressed in traditional Safari clothing pointing a rifle, and the other man is wearing only shorts and carrying a long spear, and there is another rifle resting on the rock beside him. 3) Disturbed! is a drawing of the presumably the same man dressed in safari garb, hiding among the reeds on a river bank, and aiming his rifle at a rhinoceros that has already been shot at and appears angry. All three drawings are are different sizes and are pasted to cardboard, and the ink drawing is very carefully executed. It appears that these drawings may have been for a book where the main character is the man in the safari outfit. They are probably set in Africa or India. Provenance: purchased at an English auction house, part of a collection that included several antique original book and magazine illustrations, mostly from England and France. Measurements: Biggest one is 8 x 11 inches, smallest is 6 3/4 x 9 1/4 Condition: Condition is commensurate with age and use. Drawings are in good condition. Drawing titled "Disturbed" has some stains throughout. The other drawings do not have stains, but the color of the paper is a bit darker.
