Description: Listed for sale are a number of records from a collector who seldom played the records. I think many were played once. They are in top shape and I'm listing as NM OR NM- because I don't list albums as mint. Variations will be noted under CONDITION. They will play like they were just opened. I was very excited to get these 40-50 year old albums in pristine condition. Many still had the shrink wrap on ( but unsealed). Check out my other listings to see more of these gems. RECORD: 33 1/3 RECORD 10" Don Byas, Beryl Booker Trio, – Don Byas & Le Beryl Booker Trio à Paris 10" LP reissue from BMG, This rare and hard to find record is usually only available from sellers in Japan. It showcases the extraordinary talents of Don Byas who while lesser known, was as instrumental in creating Bop music in the 40's as any of the other regulars at Minton's Jam sessions in NYC. His hard blowing or whisper sweet tenor sound influenced dozens of famous sax players who followed him. An ex-pat starting in the 50's, Byas returned only once to the states and saw that not much had changed and headed back to Europe where he recorded with mostly smaller groups comprised of ex-pats, stellar European musicians and the ever flowing river of touring Americans who played throughout Europe. On this record you have the added delight of hearing the underrated and under recorded Beryl Booker. You think it's hard to make a living in Jazz then think about what it must have been like for this amazing woman! As you will find, she is a delight to hear - innovative, technically accomplished with a superior ability to hear the other musicians and either lead or follow, depending on what the tune and setting requires. The songs are covers but fit the band personnel so very well it is easy to forget how these songs sound in the hands of less accomplished musicians. If you haven't heard Don Byas before then jump right in with a beautiful pressing in absolutely pristine shape (opened but not played). If you have then you will know what amazing sounds await you in this brilliant record Title: This is Don Byas Artists: Don Byas Vinyl Condition: NM- Cover: NM- with OBI Label: Vogue - BMG reissue A1 Nice Work If You Can Get ItA2Rose De PicardieA3PleursA4ChloeB1I'm In The Mood For LoveB2C'est Vous CherieB3TenderlyB4L'Enfant Et La Rose Manufactured By – BMGIssued 1999Artwork – C.
