Description: 1897 classic 20 volume set, plus an additional volume: “The Life of Francis Parkman”. This is the Champlain edition, number 1140 out of a limited number of 1200 sets. I received these books tightly packed in a wooden crate and individually wrapped in 1955 newspaper, protected for the last 69 years. Besides a few minor flaws expected in a 126 year old set of books, these are in excellent condition. The title paper on some of the spines are a little scarred (photo), but are still complete and readable. The top of the pages are smooth with gold gilding , the other two sides are rough cut (which adds to the charm). Please look close at the photos for overall condition. This set is complete, solid and clean. No writing, highlighting or markings of any kind. These books are very readable and would be a nice addition to any collection.
