Description: Harriette Simpson Arnow was an American novelist and historian, who lived in Kentucky and Michigan. She has been called and expert on the people of the Appalachian Mountains but spent significant periods of her life in Cincinnati and Detroit. She wrote 'Hunter's Horn in 1949 which finished close to WIlliam Faulkner's 'A Fable' in that year's voting for the Pulitzer Prize. Her most famous work was 'The Dollmaker' which was written in 1954.The Weedkiller's Daughter was the first novel she wrote after writing 'The Dollmaker' and it was not written until 1969.
