Description: Condition Continued: And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It has small losses at both bottom corners, one small tear off the front top edge, one small tear off the front bottom edge, a tiny scuff off the front bottom edge as well. The rear cover has a large tear off its top edge, along with the small loss there. There's also a second small, thin tear and a scuff. Off the bottom edge of the rear cover there's another fairly large tear. The spine is in very good shape with some color loss at its top edge, possibly a sliver of loss. The flaps are in solid shape though you can see a little bit of the aforementioned bottom corner losses at their bottom corners. The top corner of the front flap is clipped, only a little bit of the $ can be seen. The flaps are also very clean. The large jacket will be fitted with a protective cover right after the photos are taken, thereby not having to deal with glare. Franklin Watts, New York, 1961. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Text adapted by Helga Mauersberger. Illustrated by Klaus Winter and Helmut Bischoff. First American Edition. Originally published in German under the title Die Sonne by Otto Maier in 1958. The book is quite rare. I saw only one other non-library book for sale on the Internet. From the dust jacket: 'A rooster, Cockadoodledo by name, tells this brilliantly illustrated story of the seasons, the elements, and their Queen, Miss Sunshine. Meet Miss Sunshine, dazzling in her brightness; sharp-nosed Jack Frost, always up to tricks; wild-haired noisy Mr. Wind; gay Mr. Rainbow, who is Spring in person, working with an artist's palette; Cousin Rain, a mischievous gossip; Old Man Moon, 'is silent with a secret as Cousin Rain was talkative'; and the pair of villains-- barrel-chested Mr. Thunder and iron-clad Mr. Lightning, who escaped from Miss Sunshine's padlocks and immediately begin to-- but one has to read to find out what they do! In this story adapted from the German of Helga Mauersberger, there are memorable animal personalities too: Fox and Hedgehog-- a unique fruit-harvesting team, where Fox shakes apples off the tree, and Hedgehog catches them on his quills! Here, in a blaze of rich purples and fuchsia and gold, a European concept of the Sun as the girl who wisely arranges seasonal affairs is offered the young reader.'
