Playbill for a production of The Sisters Rosensweig at New York's Ethel Barrymore Theatre. This play by Wendy Wasserstein ran for 656 performances (1993-1994). Over that time, the cast changed, with the signers here replacing the original cast. Linda Lavan and Michael Learned replaced Madeline Kahn and Jane Alexander in the leading roles. MICHAEL LEARNED (b. 1939) was a stage actress until cast as Olivia Walton in The Waltons TV series (1971-1980). She earned three Emmys for this role, and a fourth for her subsequent series, Nurse (1981-1982). Actress, singer, producer and director LINDA LAVAN (b. 1937) is best known for her role as waitress Alice Hyatt on the TV sitcom, Alice (1976-1985), for which she won two Golden Globes (1978, 1979) and was nominated for another Golden Globe (1980) and an Emmy Award. Lavin also sang the sitcom's theme song, "There's a New Girl in Town". Although she is known for her television work, which also includes a stint on Barney Miller (1975-1976), guest appearances on a number of series and a long list of TV movies, the actress had a successful Broadway career as well. Lavin, who made her off-Broadway debut in 1960, made her Broadway bow two years later in A Family Affair. She won a Tony Award for Broadway Bound (1987) and was nominated for Tonys in 1970, 1998 and 2001. Lavin also appeared on the big screen, beginning with 1984's The Muppets Take Manhattan. Actor HAL LINDEN, born Harold Lipschitz in 1931, is best known for playing the title character in the Emmy-nominated sitcom, Barney Miller, which was televised from 1975-1980. Linden, who began his performing career as a clarinetist and a vocalist (he toured with Sammy Kaye), first appeared on Broadway in The Bells Are Ringing in 1958. He appeared in a number of Broadway shows, including On A Clear Day, You Can See Forever (1965-1966), Three Men on a Horse (1969-1970) and The Pajama Game (1973-1974), breaking into TV on Car 54, Where Are You? (1963). In 1971, Linden won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for The Rothschilds. He appeared in several made-for-TV movies before making his film debut in 1979, and his credits include I Do! I Do! (1984), The Colony (1995), Out to Sea (1997) and Time Changer (2002). Linden's work on the small screen includes hosting the Peabody Award-winning Animals, Animals, Animals (1976-1980), appearing on "FYI" (his Emmy Award-winning daytime information spots on ABC) and appearances on a number of TV shows, including Touched By An Angel (1996, 2001), The Nanny (1999), The Drew Carey Show (1999), Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2003) and Will & Grace (2004). JOANNE CAMP (b. 1951) earned a Tony nomination for her performance in the original production The Heidi Chronicles (1989). Since that Broadway success, she has appeared in a few other productions, including Dinner at Eight (2002-2003). Her screen credits include Kennedy (1983), Warrior Woman (2011), and Private Parts (1997). TOM HEWITT is known for his Broadway musicals, including The Lion King and Jesus Christ Superstar, and his Tony-nominated role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (2000). He has also sung opera with the New York Philharmonic, and appeared on TV series like Frasier, Third Watch and Law & Order. BRYAN O'BYRNE (1931-2009) made his New York stage debut opposite Vivien Leigh in Duel of Angels (1958), and his first TV guest spot (on Maverick) dates from the same year. The Hollywood Reporter called O'Byrne a specialist in "milquetoast" roles, and he made over 200 TV commercials. He was known for befriending young actors, from Marlon Brando to Nick Nolte. REX ROBBINS (1935-2003) appeared in 18 Broadway plays, and toured nationally with Angela Lansbury in Gypsy and Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly! His movie appearances extend from Shaft (1971) to The Royal Tenenbaums (2001). AMY RYAN (b. 1969) earned Tony nominations for Uncle Vanya (2000) and A Streetcar Named Desire (2005); and Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for Gone Baby Gone (2007). She has had prominent roles in three TV series: The Wire, In Treatment and The Office. Fine condition.
