FORMAT Paperback LANGUAGE English CONDITION Brand New Publisher Description When we unite our suffering with the suffering Christ, we learn that it can be redemptive and fruitful as part of His salvific mission. The Seven Intentions of Mourning are each conscious choices and together a unique pathway to healing where our grief finds a meaningful expression. Each intention is distinctly positioned to help us carry our cross of grief, as we discover that love endures all and that good can come from bad when there is hope. Ideal for Catholic parish support groups or those seeking to pick up the pieces and live a healthy life. Author Biography In 1998, Johns first wife passed away after a long battle with lung cancer leaving him to raise their two young sons alone. Nine years later, his memoir, The Greatest Gift was published and tells his riveting true story about amazing love, to the dead end of grief and a return to hope. This book eventually led John out of the corporate world, where he worked in various sales and management positions, and into his lifes mission, caring for grieving people. Before starting Good Mourning Ministry John spent seven years at a non-profit grief support center in both volunteer and staff positions where he was a support group facilitator, workshop speaker and Director of Fund Development. John also served a term on the board of directors from 2008-2011. John is a Certified Grief Counselor, Servant-Leader/Co-Founder of Good Mourning Ministry and a published author of three books. Sandy OShaughnessy had two moments of impact. In 1998 her husband was diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer. Five months later her mother was severely paralyzed in a car accident. Her mother died in 1999 and then a year later in 2000 she lost her husband leaving her an only parent to two young children. Just recently, Sandy lost her Dad and her father-in-law. She holds a masters degree in Pastoral Ministry with an emphasis in bereavement, and feels called to minister to those who mourn. In addition to being Co-Founder and Servant-Leader of Good Mourning Ministry, she works at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church as a Director of Religious Education. Together, John and Sandy have four children, Eric, Collin, Morgan and Ryan, as well as daughter-in-law Kim and their newest addition, granddaughter Claire Ann. Their home parish is Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Plymouth Michigan. Review The OShaughnessys book is powerful because it draws one into the natural and supernatural dynamics of grieving, mourning, and suffering that finds meaning when united to Christ. Trusting in the truth of the Christian faith, particularly the grace of Christs victory over suffering and death, they help us to take up our cross with meaning and hope. This book is highly recommended to all, but especially for support groups dealing with those are suffering or struggling to find a path through the pain. -- Eduardo J.
