Description: Solid sterling silver Celtic Cross Pendant on an 18" chain This beautiful sterling silver cross is a replica of a cross from County Clare, Ireland! The original Harp Cross is located among the ruins of the Quinn Friary and is approximately 11 feet high. Quinn was founded as a Franciscan Friary in 1433. It was built in the ruins of a much older Anglo-Norman castle. In 1541 Henry VIII dissolved the friary in his campaign to control the wealth and power of the Church. Carved into the face of the cross is an Irish harp and scores of shamrocks. Both have become famous symbols of Ireland. The harp figures into many of the old Irish myths. The shamrock is from a legend about St. Patrick that says he used a shamrock with its three leaves to explain the Trinity, the triple nature of God. This beautiful solid sterling silver Celtic Cross incorporates these classic Irish symbols in one lovely cross...a unique piece that will be loved for a lifetime. Cross is 4mm thick - a sturdy cross that is made to last. 1 1/4" x 1/2" solid sterling silver pendant comes on a sterling silver chain.
