Both volumes are contained in a grey cloth slipcase. Type is handset Goudy New Style for the text with Trajan capitals for the title and initials. Edition is highighted by five illuminated initials (see photos) in raised gold and colors by Thomas Ingmire at the openings of the five books of the Psalms. Protected by a clear archival Grafix Dura Lar dust wrapper. CONDITION: Both volumes and slipcase are in fine condition. No writing, markings, inscriptions, ex-libris, etc. DISCUSSION: This is the first separate edition of Golding's translation of the Psalms, previously interspersed throughout his translation of Calvin's Commentaries on the Psalms. Arthur Golding (1536-1606) was an Elizabethan author and translator of numerous works from Latin into English who influenced both Shakespeare and Ezra Pound. Both the letterpress printing and the quality of the handmade paper are exceptional.
