Description: Eddie Lang & Joe Venuti were like the American Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli, except that Lang and Venuti came first and didn’t have the Gypsy influence. Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti were to jazz guitar and violin what Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke were to early jazz trumpet/cornet. Eddie died in 1933 at 30. This was long before there were electric guitars. He played a Gibson L5 jazz guitar without a pickup. He pretty well invented single string jazz soloing, and his influence can be heard in every Django solo. Venuti lived much longer and essentially invented jazz violin. These two are worth your time!
