Hardcover. Bound in dark brown publisher's cloth with decorative blindstamp into the cover and spine. Spine bears gilt lettering and a round sticker affixed to the bottom. Cover shows wear with mild erosion of the cloth in places, and scuffs along the edges and orders, along with some discoloration. Joints are cracked at the front and a crack runs along the back cover spine, yet boards are still firmly affixed. No cracks are present within the inner hinges, yet a small 1" tear is in the endpaper along with a gouge in the hinge within the bottom portion. Previous owner's stamp in purple within endpages, along with a name written in pencil. Many pages are uncut. Significant foxing throughout. Continuous small dampstain at the head throughout, and various dampstains mixed through, but they do not compromise the integrity of the text. Some closed tears within page edges and slight chipping. Significant creasing between pages 413 ans 497. Author Joseph Addison Alexander (April 24, 1809 – January 28, 1860) was an American clergyman and biblical scholar. He graduated at the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) with the first honor, in the class of 1826, having devoted himself especially to the study of Hebrew and other languages.
