Bacon (1887-1954) was a poet, literary critic and teacher born in Solvay, NY. Graduated from Yale University, where he co-edited the literary magazine, in 1909. Then he moved to Berkeley and taught at University of California, Berkeley. Good friend of Sinclair Lewis. He published several volumes of poetry, including Sunderland Capture, and Other Poems (1940) which won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry.
