Zdzisław Beksiński (1929–2005) was a Polish painter, photographer, and sculptor; specializing in the field of dystopian surrealism. Beksiński made his paintings and drawings in what he called either a Baroque or a Gothic manner. His creations were made mainly in two periods. The first period of work is generally considered to contain expressionistic color, with a strong style of "utopian realism" and surreal architecture. The second period contained more abstract style, with the main features of formalism. Beksiński's wife, Zofia, died in 1998; a year later, on Christmas Eve 1999, his son Tomasz (a popular radio presenter, music journalist and philologist, whose translated media includes Silence of The Lambs, Casablanca & Reservoir Dogs and more) committed suicide by drug overdose. Beksiński discovered his son's body.Beksiński was stabbed to death at his Warsaw apartment on February 21, 2005, by a 19-year-old acquaintance from Wołomin, reportedly because he refused to lend him money. Zdzislaw Beksinski's work is like no other. This is some of the most unusual art and subject matter you will ever see. =================================================================== Please view carefully all photo scan images included, which are of the actual item in the listing.
