The Call of the New South-McCulloch-1912-1st-Southern Sociological Congress-Rare

Description: Offered is the antique book "The Call of the New South-Addresses Delivered at the Southern Sociological Congress Nashville, Tennessee May 7 to 10, 1912", edited by James E. McCulloch and published in 1912 by the Southern Sociological Congress in Nashville. This is apparently a first edition, with the copyright date matching the printing date. There are two illustrations in the front; one of Tennessee Gov. Ben Hooper and the other of Mrs. E. W. Cole, founder of the organization. This is a rare find; at the time of original listing I could not find any other original copies for sale on eBay and only one other anywhere else. The book is approx. 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" and contains 387 pages. It is in fair to good condition. The red hard cover has light to moderate wear but has some blotchiness and fading, especially on the spine. There is no cracking in the back but there is partial cracking in the front. The white endpapers have browned but are mostly clean. There are several small holes in the first blank page and several pages after that, ending prior to the title page. I see no missing or torn pages and all of the pages are well-attached to the binding. There is some edge and upper corner chipping on the first few pages. Although slightly tattered, the tissue paper adjacent to the front illustrations is still present. The pages have yellowed but otherwise they are mostly clean and clear, with occasional foxing. I see no writing in the book. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions.
