Description: “A procession of the damned. By the damned, I mean the excluded. We shall have a procession of data that Science has excluded.” Thus begins Fort’s first book. A challenge to Science, by a non-scientist. Fort was no kook, like the deniers of today, but a skeptic. A rational skeptic. Perhaps one of the sanest men who ever lived. Fort took nothing on faith, but always tried to see the world with a clear eye, trusting only the evidence wherever it may lead. Sometimes the evidence led him to write pure nonsense. That’s the pleasure of reading Charles Fort. Here are the musings of an unfettered, unblinkered mind. And he’s great fun. Good condition overall, but please note: water?damage to front cover, rubbed exterior corners/edges, and soiling on text block. Interior pages are clean and flat, and I see no evidence of water damage. Binding appears solid, but there is some separation between the flyleaf (with Fort’s picture) and the title page. Please see pictures. If you’ve ever looked for the first edition of this classic work, you know that it is uncommon (if not rare) in ANY condition!
