The Bell Harp Co. Lap Autoharp Zither Musical Instrument 19”x12” Antique [Q83]

Description: This listing is for an antique Bell Harp Co. autoharp that was part of my parent's estate. Marked on the back: 5518. Condition: Unfortunately we have noted a split in the wood - probably due to age and drying out of the wood - see notations on 2nd photo. I don't know how to play this instrument and don't know if that split would affect its functioning. It doesn't seem to affect the solid feel of the instrument - it is a heavy unit. The tuning pegs and strings are all tightly in place. Of course it needs to be tuned, but plucking the strings produces a rich sound. The good news is it is still a very attractive instrument and at the least would add an interesting conversation piece to your music room. This listing includes the original booklet: "Instructor for the Mandolin-Guitar Method," that offers instructions for playing the instrument, as well as a few songs. It seems quite old, but I don't see a year on it. "The Bell Harp Co." label appears intact inside as shown. We've taken lots of photos.
