Description: MAGNIFICENT! M I D - C E N T U R Y F I C K S & R E E D M A G A Z I N E R A C K ( APPROX. 21" By 20" ) In the 1950s, the post war fascination with Pacific & Asian decor had reached an apex! Companies like McGuire & Ficks & Reed were now established high end sources of authentic bamboo and wicker decor. House & Garden magazine in the late forties (starting around 1947) really put a lot of ink and stories featuring modern homes that had adopted a certain Asian minimalism. Yet these homes were not spartan! The rich materials, honey colored bamboo and warm colors were perhaps the most cozy homes that 20th century Americans had yet been exposed to! This Ficks & Reed bamboo modernist magazine rack is one of the incredibly rare survivors and comes from a Scottsdale Estate done up in a mind-boggling & gorgeous Pacific style! The workmanship is superb with hand wrapped cane bamboo in a unique style that makes an eye-popping statement! This piece is a true work of art and it makes one want to go out and get some magazine subscriptions! Perfect next to your favorite reading chair! Very fine condition. Age appropriate wear. Still amazingly high luster to the bamboo & cane! A must have for your Malibu beach home, Palm Springs oasis or New York modernist penthouse! A BEAUTIFUL FICKS & REED MAGAZINE RACK TO ADORN YOUR FABULOUS INTERIORS! _____________________________________________________ All text, images and descriptions Copyright GALLERY 20TH. 2025.
