Tandberg TR 2055 / 2075 / 2075 MkII / 2080 lamps, full lighting kit with 8 lamps

Description: This listing is for a complete lighting set for large-chassis Tandberg 2000-series receivers. You will receive a set of eight lamps, NOT the entire receiver (have to include that, yes it has happened!). You also receive (via emailed pdf) a detailed, illustrated instruction sheet covering installation of the lamps. In addition to parts support, I also provide expert repair assistance and service material support on these models. See my postings on Audiokarma (member jdurbin1) for some examples of that assistance. Among other things, I have a full library of manuals covering the TR20xx models and my scans are generally better than what you can find in the free online archives. Other original spare parts (used or NOS) may also be available, depending on what you need. Not simply a parts reseller, I am an enthusiastic Tandberg collector that restores this equipment as a hobbyist and freely assist others in doing the same. In fact it was this series of receivers that led to my collecting Tandberg equipment in the first place and it's my pleasure to share the enthusiasm with others and to help keep as many of these pieces in use. Because of that I have invested in part inventories and donor units so that as many viable restoration candidates as possible can be saved.  Just so there is no confusion as to the lamps being supplied in this kit, please note: This kit now includes correct OEM dimension festoon dial & meter lamps, not the slightly larger diameter ones I had been using previously. The lamps I supply now have the same electrical spec and performance and the slimmer glass tube as the factory supplied so they are an exact replacement of the original and I have uploaded a picture showing the new lamps (what you see in the main picture is what I will mail you). These slimmer lamps are almost 2x the cost of the slightly larger ones I was providing previously and I've adjusted my listing price accordingly. The threaded lamp I provide for the FM stereo indicator is identical to the original 24V/50mA lamp, not a less expensive 24V/35mA lamp (the cheaper one is part 1449, if you're curious) that other sellers substitute. May not seem like a big difference but the 1449 is rated 30% lower in wattage and that matters in what is already a low-wattage application. I prefer to actually be able to see the FM stereo indicator from across the room, so I use the correct lamp for that application. The 1449 is also less expensive and can be sourced in the US; I pay more to source the correct lamp from Europe. On these receivers in general: Tandberg earned a reputation for building rock-solid, super high-performance stereo receivers in the late 1970’s. These fine audio components were hand-assembled in Norway, and their tuners had sensitivity and noise rejection capabilities equal to some of the finest component tuners made. They had a beautiful sonic quality and were built to last a lifetime. The TR 2075, TR 2075 MkII, and TR 2080 are certainly the most desirable receivers from the vintage days of Tandberg. Produced for several years between the mid-1970's and early 1980's, these receivers were rated at better than 2x75 watts and offered performance to match many more expensive separate components. Built as an integrated set of independent component assemblies using rigid extruded aluminum chassis sections, they featured a superb AM/FM tuner, preamp with switching for two turntables & two tape decks including separate tape monitor & tape copy switches, and a powerful main amplifier section. The TR 2055 shared the same design attributes as these three larger models, but offered slightly less power. This auction is for complete lighting kit for the four receivers listed. It includes 6 new dial lamps (two go behind the meters & four behind the tuner display), a new FM stereo indicator bulb (screws into a socket behind the tuner display), and a replacement bulb for the dial indicator (requires soldering to install). All of these match the original part specifications and install exactly as the originals did. The bulbs shown in the picture are the actual parts you will receive, along with an instruction sheet for installing the bulbs. The Tandberg receiver & literature shown is not included. Note that I do NOT supply solder or other routine repair materials; my feeling is that anyone that is competent to do their own work on a fine piece of equipment like this should already have their own solder and other repair materials.   This kit is perfect for restoring the original look & feel of your vintage Tandberg receiver. Sometimes the threaded socket for the FM stereo indicator lamp has been removed to allow a bare lead lamp to be installed in its place.
