To adjust the retention strap length you can use a thin flat object and slide it between the rear of the strap and the pouch body to release the hook and loop material that connects these two pieces. Then pull up or down on the the magazine retention strap to the desired length. Now simply remove the flat object and press the retention strap and the mag pouch body together which will reconnect the hook and loop material. This item is brand new.
