Description: A classic by Beatrix Potter, and one of the Peter Rabbit series, this is the delightful tale of an independent, misbehaving, unapologetic bunny, his cousin Peter, and Benjamin's doting mom. It's accompanied by beautiful pastel illustrations, also by Beatrix Potter. A sequel to "The Tale of Peter Rabbit," here Potter tells of Peter's return to Mr. McGregor's garden alongside cousin Benjamin, and their attempt to retrieve the clothes lost there during their last adventure. 4" x 5.5" canvas-over-board hardback, 59 pages of text. Color plates. Publication details were different 90 years ago, but the copyright page indicates: "Copyright, 1904 by Frederick Warne & Co.; Copyright Renewed, 1932." So we know it is a post-1932 printing of the first edition of the 1904 tale. According to Potter biographer Linda Lear: "...the book displays a delight in place, a deep understanding of rabbit anatomy and behaviour, and beautifully miniaturized illustrations of vegetable gardens." The condition of the book indicates it was well loved by more than one generation of pre-school owners! Cover & spine are significantly scuffed, faded, and worn. One corner is frayed. Cover binding is loose but all pages are secure and in place. There are page creases but no rips or tears. Inside cover and pages 12 & 13 have light crayon markings. All pages are easily legible.
