Description: Supro Rabro double six string electric lap steel guitar. This model was “hand manufactured” in Nashville TN and has serial # X45159 which might tell you exactly when built however I have not researched. National Guitars in Chicago may have been the parent company who started producing lap steels around 1935. I believe Supro Rabro’s came out in late1940’s. This pearloid finish steel looks all original except for the case. One three position toggle switch gives you 1st neck or 2nd neck independent while the 3rd position activates both necks. Volume is clean and clear. Tone control for both necks has very little change. Both pickups are loud and clear. All twelve stainless steel tuners operate fine. National, Supro and Valco were the three names under one brand and discontinued production in 1968.A beautiful piece of steel history 70 + years young. Nice compact lightweight package (21 lbs / 9.5 kg with case) for a double neck steel too!
