Description: This fantastic issue of Superman Family #167 is a 100-Page-Super-Spectacular issue and features a cover by Nick Cardy. This issue's collection of new material and reprints features Superman and his family and friends in eight super-stories, plus two 2-page special feature titled “Super-Pats and Super-Threats”, and “Fact File on the Superman Family”. The first of the eight stories is a brand-new Jimmy Olsen story titled “A Deep Death for Mr. Action”, with script by Leo Dorfman and art by Kurt Schaffenberger; Jimmy goes to a shipwreck to recover some paintings for a museum and discovers Diana Savage and her scheme to help hide wanted criminals. The second story is another brand new Jimmy Olsen story titled “The Trail of the Spider”, with script by Leo Dorfman and art by Kurt Schaffenberger; Jimmy and police detective Corrigan try to find out why Corrigan's snitch, Mickey Salter, was killed. The third story is a Lois Lane story (reprinted from Lois Lane #60 -October 1965) titled “The Amazing Hydro-Girl!”, with script by Otto Binder and art by Kurt Schaffenberger; Lois Lane takes an experimental formula for breathing underwater. Later she finds the formula is bad and causes her to be dunked in fluid every hour or she will die. The fourth story is Supergirl story (reprinted from Action Comics #262 – March 1960) titled “Supergirl’s Greatest Victory!”, with script by Otto Binder and art by Jim Mooney; Supergirl tries to build up an immunity to Kryptonite by gradually exposing herself to large and larger doses. [Note: Supergirl’s Origin retold.] The fifth story is a Superbaby story (reprinted from Superboy #106 –July 1962) titled “The Lair of Brainiac!” with script by Jerry Siegel and art by Curt Swan (pencils) and George Klein (inks); Brainiac kidnaps baby Kal-El to use to force Jor-El to turn over one of his inventions. The sixth story is a Pete Ross story (reprinted from Superboy #100– October 1962) titled “The Day Pete Ross Became a Robot!”, with script by Jerry Coleman with art by George Papp; While Superboy is in the future with the Legion, Pete Ross accidentally breaks the Superboy Robot that was left behind to take care of any emergencies. The seventh story is a Lucy Lane story (reprinted from Jimmy Olsen #67 – March, 1963) and is titled “Super Lucy Lane”, with script by Jerry Siegel and art by John Forte; on a trip to the Fortress of Solitude, Lucy Lane gaines super-powers after touching Red Kryptonite. The eighth and final story is a Lana Lang, Insect Queen (reprinted from Superboy #124 – October 1965) and is titled, “The Insect Queen of Smallville”, with script by Otto Binder and art by George Papp; Lana helps an alien who rewards her with a ring that gives her the powers of insects. This comic was published by DC Comics in November 1974 and is graded 5.5 Fine- and comes bagged and boarded for protection and preservation.
