Description: Superb Antique Chinese Silk Dragon Embroidered Purse This beautiful vintage-to-antique Chinese silk embroidered purse measures 6-1/4" across the top frame by 7-1/4" across the bottom by 6" high, with 5" of drop from the fine chain handle. The embroidery is of the very highest quality, exceedingly fine needlework using a variety of pastel shades. Most of the work is done in satin stitches, with a few areas (within the centers or petals of the flowers) done with incredibly tiny ("forbidden") knot stitches.The four-toed dragon serpentines around the entire design, breathing fire while chasing the pearl of wisdom. The remainder of the space is filled with flowers, leaves and stylized clouds.The reverse of the purse is identically embroidered. There gilded frame is reticulated with flowers and patterned ovals and is hinged at the sides and in the center so the purse can be opened into a diamond shape.
