Cactus Quartz, or Spirit Quartz, is a unique formation of Quartz that has only been found in this region of South Africa. They are characterized by a core crystal structure having hundreds of smaller crystals growing along the center crystal faces. Typically, the main top termination of the core crystals remain free of the "cactus" formation. Typically, Cactus Quartz is found in varieties of Amethyst, Citrine, Smokey, and White Quartz. These days it is more common to see light purple cactus amethyst, rather than these yellow goethite-included quartz crystals. This specimen has fantastic luster and clean terminations.
