Stunning Antique Chad Valley Bambina Glass eyes Hawaiian boy Rainbabies Nursery

Description: Many of you may know me as the artist behind Rainbabies Nursey, turning Vinyl dolls and kits into realistic babies. One of my hobbies has been restoring Chad Valley Bambina felt velveteen dolls and Dean's Rag book dolls. When I see an extreme poor TLC dolly usually filthy from years of grime, sometimes with old repairs to body, broken or no eyes or sparse ratty hair, I just can't help myself from wanting to bring them back to their timeless beauty. I usually try and keep their originality but some are just beyond that and need a complete make over.This beautiful antique 19" Chad Valley Bambina a Mabel Lucie Atwell design. has been treated to a Rainbabies spa yet still retains his originality. His face had a few faults as you can see in the last picture. He was a well loved little dolly His sewn on mohair was dirty and messy and his body was black with years of filth He really needed a Rainbabies make over.I freeze treated him in case of any moth larvae being a cloth doll, gently deep cleaned his extremely grimy velveteen body dry cleaned his hair and restyled it. I re-felted the hole in his nose gave him a light face up and cleaned the beautiful original side glancing eyes which give him a cute wistful look. There is an old repair to the foot which I have left as it is part of his history. Upon cleaning the velveteen I realised that he was more like one of the brown skinned boys so I gave him a cute felt belly button and made a Hawaiian style felt outfit based on a photo from the 1930s of a little boy from the island. He has a colourful floral lei, arm bands and a metal beaded necklace to help his head from wobbling. I made felt moccasin type shoes and some underwear. He is fully jointed and has the original label on the foot and Chad Valley button. Considering he was really quite far gone as seen in the last two pictures I hope you will agree that he now looks the beautiful little boy that he deserves and my tribute to the Chad Valley Bambina.He is no longer a play doll he is a one of a kind artist remodelled doll for serious doll collector display only.Sent tracked and insured.
