Description: Stratford, CONNECTICUT - Paradise Green - 1915: Stratford is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is situated on Long Island Sound along Connecticut's "Gold Coast" at the mouth of the Housatonic River. Stratford is in the Bridgeport–Stamford–Norwalk Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was settled by Puritans in 1639. The population was 51,384 as of the 2010 census. Paradise Green is one of the outstanding neighborhoods of Stratford. Most of it is like a mini-Shaker Heights, a planned community from the twenties built around Longbrook Park, with highly distinctive Tudor and Colonial Revival homes on manageable lots. There is a strong sense of community and little in the way of run-down houses or crime. The park itself has playgrounds, little league field, lots of period stone walls and old oak trees, and Brewster Pond with its flock of ornery geese. There is a train station an easy ten-minute walk down Main Street, and an express train gets you into Grand Central, New York City, in one hour and 12 minutes. This Divided Back Era postcard, mailed in 1915, is in good condition, but there is edge wear, creasing, and the card has lost its stamp. C.T. Photochrom. No. R-38854. Published by W. I. Allen. Bridgeport, Conn. "Corbits Photo".
